  What is Phrase? A phrase is a group of words that forms a meaningful unit within a sentence but does not contain both a subject and a predicate. It is a basic unit of syntax that functions as a single part of speech. Phrases can consist of various combinations of words, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions.   Phrases can serve different purposes in a sentence, such as providing additional information, expressing an action or state, modifying a noun, or showing relationships between different parts of the sentence. They can be simple or complex, and they play a crucial role in constructing meaningful and grammatically correct sentences.   Examples of phrases include: 1. "In the park" (prepositional phrase) 2.
